The newest Antifungal Plastic Technology

This latest technology of plastic bags can prevent the food, such as bread and cheese from the mildew. In addition, this new innovative plastics also prevents the emergence of bacteria.

Special plastic bags made in the British scientists could prevent the food from mildew. The technology developed by Janssen and Symphony is called D2P. The newest technology that fix the antibacterial and antifungal chemicals into the plastics.

The Scientists have found that this solution can control bacteria such as E. coli, Salmonella, Listeria, which can cause foods poisoning. It can also control the growth of fungus that grow on breads and others such as Mucor piriformis, which causes soft fruits to rot, and Penicillium roqueforti, which is found on cheese.

Tests show that the new plastics can increase the freshness of bread and cheese without contaminating the foods. Michael Stephen, Director of Symphony Environmental reveals, that plastics can also be used to wrap the fruits, vegetables, and meats. With this plastics, the foods can be preserved more longer.

"We have come up with a way to make antimicrobial plastics and can be used to wrap foods," Stephen said as quoted by the Telegraph. This means it can reduce losses if there is a store that has moldy bread and must be thrown away. This technology can also be used to make credit cards and the new plastic bank notes more hygienicy.

He added, "Initially we anticipate it being used in pipes, door handles and hand rails on the tube, for example, to help reduce the spread of bacteria.
