Number Line

Posted by Unknown Kamis, 26 April 2012 0 komentar
Number Line is an educational game app to help students learn about fractions, decimals, and percents by ordering equivalent fractions, decimals, and percents on a number line. The app features multiple levels where the player must drag circles with either a percent, decimal or fraction onto a number line in the correct sequence. A score is earned based on the time it takes to put all the circles in the correct order (faster is better), plus points for each correct placement, minus points for each error.

I PHONE 5

Posted by Unknown Jumat, 20 April 2012 0 komentar

Unlike the iPhone 4S, the new iPhone will be a completely new design from what has gone before, so that means an entirely new casing as we saw with the iPhone 3G and, later, the iPhone 4.

Interestingly, someone who claimed to have seen a larger-screened iPhone 5 prototype said in November 2011 that Steve Jobs canned the new handset and opted for the iPhone 4S because of the larger screen size of the new device. According to Business Insider, it was feared that a new size would create a two-tier iPhone ecosystem.

Based on the roadmap of mobile chip design specialist ARM (of which Apple is a licensee), we'll see a quad-core processor debut in the new iPhone 5 - probably called the Apple A6. We know that we'll see other quad core handsets debut in 2012, so it's not too much of a stretch to say that the iPhone 5 will be the same.

With many 4G handsets already announced in the US, it can't be long before the iPhone supports 4G technologies - even if we won't even have a UK spectrum auction until 2012.Many sites have reported that Steve Jobs was working hard on the iPhone 5 project, which will apparently be a "radical redesign". We shall see... but the fact the iPhone 4S was so similar to the iPhone 4 suggests that Steve was working on something pretty special before

There has been rumors that the iPhone 5 will feature a hologram keyboard (or laser keyboard). With an ultra slim design, the concept features a rotation holographic keyboard and a projector which will let you watch videos on your wall. Sounds like SF? Well, not quite. Have a look at this iphone 5 leaked photos and you will see that the rumors may become reality.

Dell XPS 13

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

A few years ago Dell built some of the best notebooks in the market. The D-series notebooks were solid business machines which could rivaled or bested Lenovo's Thinkpads. The Dell XPS were on the cutting edge of notebook design and performance. And then, there were the amazing Dell Adamo laptops. But something happened along the way, and the Dell brand started to become stale and boring. That is about to change. With the new Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook, Dell is back.
The Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook has a 13.3-inch display, like most other of the new Intel powered Utlrabooks. Let's get three things out of the way. The Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook does not have a 1600 x 900 high resolution display like the Asus  Zenbook, but a more typical 1366 x 768 display.

It also does not have a SD Card reader, unlike most of its competitors. Last, it has a mini display port instead of a more convenient HDMI port. If you can get past those three things, it may be the best Ultrabook for you.
Size. The Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook is a 13.3-inch laptop in the frame of a 12.5-inch laptop. Combined with a typical weight of of 2.99 pounds, we think this makes the Dell XPS 13 Ultrabook the most portable of the bunch.
Basic specifications. The based model comes with the following specifications:
Processor - Intel Core i5-2467M (1.6 GHz with Turbo Boost to 2.3 GHz)
Graphics - Intel HD 3000
RAM - 4 GB
Storage - 128 GB SSD
Operating System - Windows 7 Home Premium
Keyboard - Backlit
Webcam - Yes
USB 3.0 - Yes

HP Envy 14 Spectre

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar
The Spectre is a premium machine, and it's not just that HP needed something high-end to take the place of the last-gen Envy 14. This also happens to be the company's first consumer-grade Ultrabook, and it arrives at a time when there are many to choose from. Enter HP's marketing department: the outfit's touting this thing as a "premium Ultrabook" -- the kind of machine you'd choose if you wanted a 1600 x 900 IPS-quality display or an unorthodox design. For that kind of beauty, though, you're looking at $1,400 and up -- a princely cost of entry when you consider lots of similarly specced models go for $1,100 or less.

Spectre has a 14" screen but HP claims the chassis size to be more common in 13.3" laptops, which matches up if you compare it to e.g. 13" MacBook Pro (12.78" x 8.94" x 0.95"). The use of a bigger screen allows HP to use a higher resolution panel, as 1600x900 is more commonly found in 14" and 15" laptops (although there are 13.3" laptops like Sony Vaio SA and ASUS Zenbook with 1600x900). The stock configuration comes with Core i5-2467M but HP offers configurations with Core i7 ULVs as well (HP didn't list any SKUs, though).
At 3.79lb, Spectre is definitely heavier than most Ultrabooks we have seen. If you're wondering how is this still an Ultrabook, Intel requires +14" laptops to be thinner than 21mm, which translates to 0.83" - there is no weight limit. For sub-14" laptops, the height limit is 18mm (0.71"). $1399 also makes Spectre fairly expensive, or premium as HP says. The bundled software is worth over $200, but it's always a risky move to include shareware software as the end-user may not use it at all but still pays for it.

IPAD mini

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

There's a constantly spinning mill of rumours about Apple products, most of which turn out to be untrue. What's unusual this week is that talk has revived of a smaller iPad model, an idea company founder Steve Jobs derided publicly a year before he died.

Apple and its suppliers aren't commenting. Rumours of a smaller iPad, or "iPad mini" have percolated ever since the first iPad was launched two years ago. This time around, they're fed by media reports from South Korea, China and Taiwan, saying Apple has
ordered Samsung screens that are 7.86 inches measured on the diagonal. That would make the screen about two-thirds the size of the current iPad, which has a diagonal measurement of 9.7 inches.
A smaller tablet would help Apple further its lead in the tablet market. There's a constantly spinning mill of rumours about Apple products, most of which turn out to be untrue. What's unusual this week is that talk has revived of a smaller iPad model, an idea company founder Steve Jobs derided publicly a year before he died.
"From a competitive standpoint, we believe an iPad mini with a lower price point would be the competition's worst nightmare, says Shaw Wu, an analyst at Sterne Agee. "Most (competitors) already have a tough enough time competing against the iPad 2, as well as the new iPad."
Apple has successfully fended off competitors who have tried to sell tablets in iPad's size range. But last year, Amazon.com Inc. figured out how to crack Apple's stranglehold on tablets by making a half-size, no-frills tablet. The result was the Kindle Fire, which sells for $199 -basically, the cost of production. Amazon has sold millions of them.

Apple sells the iPod Touch for $199, but its screen is about a quarter of the size of the Kindle Fire - a big disadvantage for people who want to enjoy books, movies and games. It also sells the older iPad model for $399. It has nothing in between.

Price isn't the only reason customers might prefer a smaller tablet. A 7-inch model would fit in many handbags, unlike the current iPad.
Wu says he's seen evidence of Apple experimenting with both smaller and larger tablet screens since 2009, and doesn't sense that the release of an iPad mini is "imminent."

It could be hard for Apple to make money from an iPad-quality 7-inch tablet that sells for $299. Analysts at IHS iSuppli estimate that a smaller tablet would cost around $250 to produce, a figure that doesn't include development costs, packaging or patent royalties. That suggests Apple would price it at $329 or $349.

Samsung Series 5

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

The Good:

Bright, matte display; discrete graphics; comfortable keyboard; good two-finger scrolling on touchpad.

The bad:

Size and weight is similar to mainstream non-Ultrabook laptop; more costly than its competitors; off-axis viewing could be better; some bloatware.

The bottom line:

With more features than the typical Ultrabook, the Samsung Series 5 Ultra is a versatile and attractive 14-inch laptop that justifies its higher price tag

With its AMD graphics and an optical drive, the Samsung Series 5 Ultra definitely feels like a thin-and-light laptop. Regardless of what you call it, this is a well-built notebook with mid-range performance, a comfortable keyboard and a bright, matte display. You're also unlikely to run out of ports on this machine and that optical drive is handy for DVDs and games.

LG Z330 and Z430

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

LG's bringing its first two MacBook Air clones to CES 2012 this year, and it's going downright hyperbolic with the naming scheme: the previously-announced 13.3-inch Xnote Z330 and its larger 14-inch brother the Z430 will be "Super Ultrabooks" when they launch in the first quarter of 2012. We don't have prices yet, but on paper the ultrabooks sound generally like more of the same, with up-to-Core i7 Intel processors, integrated Intel graphics, 1366 x 768 resolution screens, a small array of ports and either an internal SSD or 500GB hard drive with optional SSD caching.
Both, however, are exceptionally thin machines at 14.7mm and 19.9mm respectively, light at 2.67 and 3.3 pounds, and are deceptively small compared to their screens thanks to ultra-slim bezels. LG's fit the 13.3-inch screen into a 12-inch laptop footprint, and the 14-inch screen into a 13-incher's chassis.
The Z330 is truly wafer thin, measuring just .57? thick and weighing a mere 2.67 pounds, but still managing to pack in a speedy Intel i5 or i7 processor.Coming with a 1366 x 768 LED-backit 13.3? display, the LG Z330 also has 4GB RAM backed by 128GB or 256GB of SSD storage options, plus 10/100 ethernet, WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth 3.0+HS.
It’s larger brother, the 14? Z430, is another waif of a thing, measuring  .78? thick and weighing 3.3 pounds. It’ll also be offered in i5 or i7 CPU flavours, but comes with 8GB of memory, and up to a 550GB HDD with the option of adding 16GB or 128GB of SSD storage. Both models come with a multiformat memory card reader, single USB 3.0, two USB 2.0 and HDMI, along with audio in/out ports.

The LG Ultrabooks should be skimming the breeze some time soon.Pricing is still to be announced. Specs are below:

Windows 8 Consumer Preview

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar

The Windows 8 Consumer Preview updates the look of the Developer Preview, adds a lot of new features and revamps a few old ones.
You can download the Consumer Preview

Windows 8 coverage

The round Start button is gone, the Metro-style Start screen remains and yes, you can only pick from nine colours and five patterns for the Start screen background.
But there's far more to the Consumer Preview user interface than the Start screen, and far more to Windows 8 than the user interface.
There are new ways of switching between apps, as well as more updates to the desktop tools. There are changes under the hood to file copying, power management, security, networking, hardware support and more.

And then there are the first real Metro apps, so you can find out what it's like to use Metro for more than just trying out Metro, and the Windows Store for the first third-party apps from real developers.

This is the version of Windows 8 that's going to give you a real feel for what the final operating system will be like and the first version you could realistically use for day-to-day work.

First of all, it's worth noting that the Consumer Preview is only for x86/64 PCs; there isn't an ARM version that you can download and try out, since there aren't any ARM devices that will run it.
That's because of the extremely custom way that ARM devices are built, where not even the way to control a physical button is standard. Microsoft isn't supporting tablets built to run Android or WebOS, either.
Much of what we're seeing in the Consumer Preview will be the same on Windows on ARM (WOA) systems. Most stuff - from the Metro user interface to the touch gestures, to the Windows desktop and built-in Windows tools such as Explorer and Task Manager - will be practically the same

When you download the Consumer Preview, installing is easier than usual with a beta operating system. You can start the installation directly from the web page, instead of having to download an ISO file and burn that to an optical disc.
You can still burn an ISO if you want, and the installer can also create a bootable USB stick so you can download Consumer Preview once and install it on multiple machines.

Today is a big day for the Windows team. At Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain a few moments ago, we unveiled the Windows 8 Consumer Preview to our partners and press. Based on a broad range of feedback, we have made over 100,000 code changes and the Consumer Preview represents a refined product ready for broad and daily usage by those of you willing to test a pre-release OS. You can download the Consumer Preview starting now at http://preview.windows.com. If you tried the Windows 8 Developer Preview, then you are going to be delighted to see a broad range of product changes and improvements based on a feedback from many sources.

Windows 8 reimagines Windows, from the chipset to the experience. With the Developer Preview we focused on presenting the new APIs and amazing new tools for developers. Today’s Consumer Preview is focused on a broader audience, and along with improvements to the WinRT APIs based on developer feedback, we are introducing the full user experience, the Windows Store for apps, and early previews of some first- and third-party apps.

With so much to dive into, let’s talk about what is different in the Consumer Preview at a high level:

Broad range of product changes and improvements: Since the Developer Preview in September, designed to preview the programming platform, Windows 8 has progressed across every dimension. From completing the user experience for touch, keyboard, and mouse, to refining the development platform, to improving performance, quality, and reliability across all subsystems as well as new features, the Consumer Preview represents a complete view of the capabilities of Windows 8.

Windows Store with an “App Preview” of new apps: The Windows 8 Consumer Preview marks the opening of the Windows Store for testing. You’ll see a variety of new Metro style apps from both third-party developers and Microsoft. During the Consumer Preview, these apps are available to try and experience at no cost to users. Please note, these apps and the set of preinstalled apps are at an early stage of development and are available as an early App Preview, and will be updated via the Windows Store. In addition, the Store will offer personalized recommendations, and Windows 8 gives users the ability to take their apps and settings with them across multiple PCs, making it easy to discover and try new apps while offering developers the greatest opportunity of any platform
Connecting to the cloud across Windows PCs and Windows Phones: You’ll experience seamless integration with the content across your web services. Optionally signing in with a Microsoft account provides access to features including the ability to roam all settings, use cloud storage, communicate with email, calendar, and contacts, and connect to a broad range of services. Your connection to the cloud works across your Windows PCs and your Windows Phones. You’ll also experience early previews of the Metro style apps for Mail, Calendar, People, Messaging, Photos, and SkyDrive.
Internet Explorer 10 Platform Preview 5: With IE10, we reimagined the browser to create a new experience designed specifically for Windows 8 devices. It provides an edge to edge interface that is all about less browser, and more web. Fast and fluid, IE is hardware-accelerated to enable web performance. The same rendering engine and high-performance script engine is available on the Windows desktop as well.

We’ve detailed many features in this blog across all the subsystems of Windows 8. From the kernel, networking, file system, graphics, and the user interface across all of those. There’s no easy way to enumerate the depth and breadth of Windows 8 in a post. The best thing to do is experience it yourself. We encourage everyone to check out our demo video, and all the videos and information on http://preview.windows.com. From there you can also download the Consumer Preview for x86/64. For developers, there is also a beta of Visual Studio 11.

We’ll publish a quick look at system requirements for this release, but the short version is that your Windows 7 logo PC is the perfect place to start as the system requirements have not changed. You can upgrade from the Developer Preview or from Windows 7, or install cleanly (we strongly recommend a hardware installation and not a VM install if you are looking to experience the release as the vast majority will experience it, and please keep in mind the minimum screen resolution required is 1024x768). We will be updating the release with various quality updates and drivers over the coming weeks/months just to exercise our overall update and telemetry mechanisms. Please keep in mind that this is a test release of a product still under development.

We’ve got a lot more blogging to do. So stay tuned for details of the changes we made and the features we haven’t had a chance to talk about yet. This blog continues to be a big part of the development process. Now that we have this shared experience, we expect folks commenting on posts to be running the Consumer Preview so we’re all sharing the same context. We know there will be a lot of feedback—that comes from reimagining a product used by a billion people!
