Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo V

Posted by Unknown Minggu, 01 April 2012 0 komentar

One of the newer devices that recently rolled out of the Sony Ericsson shed is the Xperia Neo V. Designed to offer high-end like features at a reasonable price, the Neo V could mean serious competition for the likes of Motorola, Spice, among others. Here’s a closer look at the latest handset in the Xperia Smartphone series.
Other than that, handling is super smooth and even a few slightly heavy games worked without a hitch.

The native music player that Sony Ericsson has customized for the Android UI is quite well balanced for overall audio performance.
With a 1GHz Scorpion processor powering Android’s Gingerbread OS (2.3.4), the Xperia Neo V functions quite well

Pros:
1. OS really fast with feather touch. It never hanged up.
2. Got 500 MB free 3G from sony ericsson - airtel tie up. Usually for 10kb they r costing around 10ps in India.
3. Phone set look is awesome.
4. Clarity is better than most of the smart mobiles in market, bcos of Bravia engine picture clarity enhancer.
5. Cost was 18.1K as on 16dec2011 with 10% for ICICI bank users.

Cons:

1. Battery backup is really bad.. it could not stand for 1day also.. daily charging the mobile twice..
2. Very low internal memory, we can not download more applications.
3. Ear phone which comes along with the set is not good. This time they have not provided the original ear phone.
4. It has 5 MP, where as in Neo(Which is not launched in India) has 8MP camera with same cost.

Sony Tablet P

While the Tablet S sports a "folded magazine" design, the clamshell design of the Tablet P is likely to be more controversial. 3G comes as standard on this 380g, 5.5-inch screen device which offers up a still very sharp 1024x480 resolution on each side. As a clamshell design, you have two screens and, depending on what app you choose to use, they’ll either work together or separately.

The Sony Tablet P is, naturally, PlayStation Certified so you’ll find Crash Bandicoot pre-installed if that’s what you want to play. Connectivity is still a little on the light side, only offering a Micro-USB connection and, whilst you get the DLNA connected features to shoot movies onto your TV, you don’t get the IR remote control functions found on the S. It's all run by a Tegra 2 SoC with an internal memory of 4GB which you can bolster with microSD. £479 when it launches just before Christmas.

The first quad-core Tegra 3 tablet smashes its way to the top of our list. The original Asus Eee Pad Transformer is still one of the best Android tablets around, but the Prime is the best of them all. It's one step better than its predecessor in every respect, and is the first tablet to launch with Nvidia's quad-core Tegra 3 CPU which adds super-powers and increased power efficiency.

Playing 1080p videos is no longer a problem, with high-res clips playing on the Prime's albeit sub-1080p display smoothly and without issue. It's also the thinnest tablet we've yet seen, and comes with a gorgeous keyboard dock which adds an additional 8-hours of battery life to tablet unit's 9-hours.It's the best Android tablet yet launched, and it'll be unleashed on the UK in January in one single 32GB flavour with keyboard dock and a £499 price tag

Android games 2012(Free)

Bebbled Bebbled is your standard gem-shuffling thing,You only drop gems on other gems to nuke larger groups of the same colour, but with ever-tightening demands for score combos and scenes that require you to rotate your phone to flip the play field on its head, Bebbled soon morphs into an incredibly complex challenge.

Red Stone
Red Stone  is one of the best square-shuffling games on Android and one of the hardest. You start off with a big fat 'King' square that's four times of the normal 'pawn' squares, then set about shuffling things so the fat King can get through to an exit at the top of the screen.
It's hard to accurately describe a puzzle game in the written word, but seriously, it's a good game.
Newton
Newton is a maths/physics challenge that has you lining up shots at a target - but having to contend with the laws of nature, in the form of pushers, pullers, benders (no laughing), mirrors and traps, all deflecting your shot from its target. The developer is still adding levels to it at the moment, so one day Newton might be finished and might cost money. But for now it's free and a great indie creation.
Sketch Online
Sketch Online is a sociable guessing game where users do little drawings then battle to correctly guess what's being drawn first. It's like Mavis Beacon for the Bebo generation. The version labelled "Beta" is free, and if you like it there's the option to pay for an ad-free copy. But Google can't make you. Yet.
Drop
Drop a game, others might classify it as a tech demo that illustrates the accuracy of the Android platform's accelerometer, thanks to how playing it simply involves tilting your phone while making a little bouncy ball falls between gaps in the platforms. Either way it'll amuse you for a while and inform you of the accuracy of your accelerometer - a win-win situation.
Frozen Bubble
Frozen Bubble, is based around the ancient and many-times-copied concept of firing gems up a screen to make little groups of similarly coloured clusters.
Abduction
Abduction is a sweet little platform jumping game, presented in a similarly quirky and hand-drawn style as the super-fashionable Doodle Jump. You can't argue with cute cows and penguins with parachutes, or a game that's easy to play with one hand thanks to its super accessible accelerometer controls.
Cestos
Cestos is sort of a futuristic recreation of curling, where players chuck marbles at each other to try and smash everyone else's balls/gems down the drain and out of the zone. The best part is this all happens online against real humans.

Air Control
Air Control is one of the other common themes on the Android gaming scene is clones of games based around pretending to be an air traffic controller, where you guide planes to landing strips with a swish of your finger.

Android apps 2012 (Free)

1.Facebook for Android
Facebook for Android is lacking in features compared to Facebook itself, but a recent update added Inbox support to the Android app, finally allowing its users to communicate in almost real time. The app's fast and stable

2.ASTRO File Manager

ASTRO is nothing more than a Windows-style file explorer, but if you're into tinkering and directly installing Android APK files yourself, it's essential to stick something like this on your phone. It makes your phone feel like a computer.

3.Google Sky Map

Google Sky Map is a stunning app that uses your phone's orientation tools to give you an accurate representation of the stars and planets on your screen. Point your phone at the sky, then learn what constellations are visible

4.Winamp

Winamp from a decade ago. It's had an Android app for some time, with recent updates adding support for iTunes, Mac syncing, plenty of music streaming options, new release lists and Shoutcast integration for radio support. It's a fine, free media player.

5.Google Maps Navigation

Google Maps introduces turn-by-turn voice navigation, simultaneously devastating the satnav industry while boosting the in-car dashboard dock/charger accessory scene. Route calculations are done at the outset of your trip, minimising data transfer en route and keeping you on target even when the GPS signal drops. It's amazing, it works, and it's free.

6.Skifta

Skifta is the first software tool to be granted DLNA certification, meaning it turns your Android phone into an official DLNA device. This in turn means streaming all of your household media to your phone, and beaming your phone videos to your TV.

7.Meebo IM

Meebo IM. It's an instant messaging aggregator, incorporating AIM, MSN, Yahoo, MySpace, Facebook, good old ICQ and more, serving everything up in one convenient interface. Typing in all your logins and passwords for everything is the only, very temporary, inconvenience.

8.Amazon Kindle

Kindle app is a great e-reader, which is seamlessly linked with your Amazon account. Support for magazines and newspapers is limited at the moment, with only a handful of niche publications in Android-friendly format. But for books it's great, with plenty of screen and text display options to get it looking a way that hurts your eyes the least.

9.ES File Explorer

ES File Explorer is prettier, ad-free, and comes with a much more user-friendly and functional interface. And yes, Android users have favourite file explorers.

10. Sky +

Sky+ app has been on Android for quite some time, but it's recently been given a superb visual refresh and a new custom interface for those doing their telly research on an Android tablet. The feature set has been expanding, too, now including a nice Showcase front section, more programme details, plus, of course, the Remote Record features to set your Sky+ box recording through 3G or wi-fi.

HTTP Basic Auth problems that affect Zope (2 and 3) in Safari 5.1, Mac OS X Lion

Posted by Unknown Selasa, 06 September 2011 0 komentar

One very frustrating experience that I encountered after upgrading to OS X Lion (10.7) was that Safari 5.1, as included in Lion, would constantly pop up basic-authentication dialog boxes on our CMS sites, which are based on the Zope Toolkit (kind of between Zope 3.4 and Bluebream). Just about every page in our admin UI would do this. To get around this, I switched to Firefox for interacting with our admin screens, but still used Safari as my primary browser (better OS X citizen, takes advantage of Lion features which I enjoy, bookmark syncing, etc). This lead to problems as Firefox could get pushed way back in the usage stack and would be paged out, and it did NOT like to wake up after long periods of inactivity.

A couple of days ago I decided to take another look at the WebKit project as I was certain that I was not the only person having this issue. And I found a bug that had been recently closed relating to this issue. It's WebKit bug 66354 and it's resolution is in the WebKit nightly builds since at least September 2, 2011.

Apparently this only affects OS X Lion as it has to do with low level CFNetwork changes in Lion. The bug occurs not with basic auth, exactly, as I was able to use other systems behind basic auth. The bug occurs when there are redirects with Basic Auth, which our CMS uses a fair bit in its admins for basic navigation links.

As of OS X 10.7.1 and its Safari (Version 5.1 (7534.48.3)) this is broken. If you use OS X Lion and Safari and encounter HTTP Basic Auth problems, I'd recommend switching to the nightly builds.
